- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Chauney Nielson -- A Sweet Swoonworthy Book : The Highwayman's Letter is part of the Son's Of Somerset series and can be read in any order. This book was absolutely amazing. The story drew me in right away with the mystery surrounding the highwayman. The characters are well thought out and are relatable. I feel the story was written very well and had a lot of fun twists I didn't see coming. I loved the interactions between Joanna and the Highwayman. Such a swoon worthy romance that is clean. I loved the insights into how the postal service worked! It was also a study in class differences and the separation between upper and lower, as is a theme in the Sons of Somerset series. I loved learning about the problems with the postal system, debtor's prison, and highway men. But, most of all, I liked how the practical heroine found her voice and paved the way for her own happy ending. The hero's life also illustrated how forgiveness and kindness transform one into his best self.
